V A. a result "of . protest in the fifth race, the Sailing Committee ordered. the race to he rcsailed as between Brassel in Wetu and SinclaTr in Kia Iwi, and tho event was got oT [owing the seventh race. There w*s a perfect start, both boats crossing as tho {[J dropped. Wetu gained slightly and was Bs£ ahead at tho reef pile. At the end of the first round Bbo was 34sec ahead of Braseel's boat, and continued to improve her position at the same rate, finishing 63 seconds in front of Wetu. . In the Takapuna class, Sinclair has 4 wins, and Norris, Brasscl, and Taylor one each. There are two races yet to be sailed.

OPEN CLASS. Sorno fmo sailing was witnessed in the open class race, which started at 3 p.m. At the start, Water Beetle, .Usner, and Linnet were all jammed together at tho tripod, and a few seconds elapsed before they sorted the-msolves out. Tho larger boats followed them across. Little lona was over 5 minutes lato in starting. Tho only outstanding incident was when aiter rounding the pile tho first time, Usher and Linnet were approachin" tha pier. Usher, slightly ahead, stayed, and Linnet, caught napping, ran into her. Linnet eusta-ined a broken bob-stay, tho rin" being pulled clean out of the stem. Linnet kept on and rounded tho Ripa Island buoy, but retired in the second round. The finish was as follows: Phyllis (12min), J\ Sinclair .- .- 1 Magpie (24min), D. Pascoe .. ..2 lona (ecr), J. Waddell .. .-3 Usher (lCmin), P. Collins; Water Beetle (4min), M. Scott; and Little lona (16min), R. Sinclair also finished. RACE AT REDCLIFFS. The third President's Trophy race was sailed at Pvodcliffs on Saturday on an ebb tide with an easterly breeze, which fell away towards the end of the race. The course was from tho club jetty round the tripod buoy to the Hoathcoto stake, hack to thp tripod buoy and the Avon buoy, back rourfd tho tripod buoy to finish at the club jetty. Tho result, on corrected times, was: — Tui (15min), 4hr 15min 45sec .. 1 Te Arai (scr), 4hr 17min ssec .• - Gadfly (15miu), 4hr 17min 28seo .. 3 Secret (Bmin), 4hr 20min 12see >. 4 Betty (4Jmin), 4hr 20min 53see -. » Fidget (lGSmin), 4hr 21min lsec .. 6 Twenty boats crossed the line at 8.10 p.m. Dottrell was first oway, followed by Tu , 4.lert, and Gadfly. A very fino start, all boats being woll bunched. On. the lead to tripod buoy, Te Arai passed the leaders, and took the lead, with Dottrell, Warau, Tui, Alerto, and Betty in that order. Little change took place on the run to Heathcote stake, Betty improving her-position- slightly. Alerte struck- trouble- in" lowering her spinnaker, losing several minutes. , Te Arai continued to increase her-lead; and was first round the Heathcote stake, with the rest of the fleet well strung out. On the beat.back to tripod buoy Betty and Secret passed Tui. Gadfly had . improved her position. by this time. On the run to Avon buoy and back to tripod buoy Te Arai lapped the other leaders. Little change took place on the boat home, Tni and Gadfly improving their positions slightly; Te Arai finished well in the lead, but on handicap Tui won by 13 minutes.
