YOUNG BOY'S COLLAPSE. Trevor John Aldous, a boy aged 11 years, residing with his parents in Burton road, Aranui, dropped dead while runing along the footpath in Sea View road, New Brighton, about 10.30 a.m. on Saturday,. The boy had been sent by his parents to order some coal from a coal merchant in New Brighton, but" his people were not anxious when he failed, to return home by .lunch time, because the lad had been-in the habit of riding on a baker's cart on Saturdays, and 'they naturally thong-ht that he would. be doing so i n this' occasion. This was the reason for the delay in the identification of the body. ; ; • lie was observed by a-resident of Sea View rrfad to be running along tjmt street towards the beach, when lie apparently tripped and fell. Seeing the lioy did not rise again, .the man went over to him, and thinking he had fainted, summoned medical assistance. When the doctor arrived-he could only pronounce life to be extinct. An inquest will be held. Frank Webb, a lad 15 years of age, and residing at 170 Carlyle street, Sydenham, was at Harewood shooting rabbits yesterday, when- he received the accidental discharge of-a friend's rifle in the shoulder. During a practice sparring bout with Charles Turdy, a young Auckland boxer, named Harry Stehr, complained of feeling unwell. He . loft the ring, but- collapsed and died, probably of heart, failure. HAMILTON, February 7. Another death during the progress of an operation occurred at the Waikato Hospital yesterday. The patient was Mrs Mary Brogan, aged 45, wife of Mr John Brogan, a' taxi-driver, of Frankton. She was ordered a serious operation immediately on admission to the institution.
WANGANUI, February 8. A. six-year-old boy named William! Alexander Rainham, was drowned in the rivor yesterday afternoon.
WESTPOR.T, February 8. A man believed to be named Newton, who- ..went out with his companions shooting behind Millerton, is reported shot in the stomach. Large numbers of miners have gone out to cut a trackthrough the bush to bring him to Millerton. Particulars are not available.
