An extensive organisation for purchasing gold coins hoarded sine© the war by peasants in Brittany has been discovered by the French authorities. 13v offering as much a 5.45 francs (paper) for a pre-war louis (16s) the agents of this syndicate have induced the country peasants to part with thousands of pounds' • worth of hiaden gold. On*, farmer near St. Pol sold 5000 coins at a profit in current paper of 100 per cent. Attention was first attracted to this secret traffic by the increased prosperity of many humble villagers through purchases of additional land and cheap motor-cars.
