ETHEREAL WOOL.
TO THE WUTOB OF "THE' TBESS." Sir,—Tho nebulous letter of Peter Trolove 'regairding Lord JTurthcliffc's clothes does not make it quite clear whether Northcliffo actually wears clothes or only thinks be docs'. In any caso it seems to me that, there ifi in those regions through which >;ortncliffo is now travelling a good opening for New Zealand produce.' Peter says he has ' been in communication with Northeliffc. Is tboro anythin" in- the state of. New Zealand morality or'politics that would, debar this nice little country from - getting an order for some, wool? If Peter would give a hint to North--cli'ffe, 1 foel sure that; seeing the, latter had a warm spot in his heart for. New Zeaiand, ho would only be too pleased to see that a substantial order .came to. these parts. It would-, of course be understood, that Peter should receive a good commission—say oO per cent. If, on tho other hand, Northchffe onlv thinks he is' wearing clothes,' then it ought to be possible for the sheepfarmers of Ibis country to think they are selling wool and'to imagine that thev are getting fabulous prices. In that case Peter -might teach the farmers here how to imagine these things. We might then within a year make this earth part of paradise. Again, of course, it may be possible that they keep their own sheep "up there."' One wonders whether the sheep "up there" would ever bo killed for mutton, or if they just, keep on "existing." If they just-keen, on "existing" it would bo only reasonable to suppose that they "keep on" increasing in tbo natural way as they do in this country, or do the poor old sheep that wo dispose of hero pass over to continue'their same functions there? Peter should enlighten us on these points. Tho millennium may bo nearer than we think. —Yours, etc.. NOSTIK. i
