NORTH CANTERBURY GUN CLUB.

On Saturday afternoon the Xorth Canterbury Gun Club held their sparrow championship shoot, under vfcry unfavourable weather conditions, the visibility being bad and tho -wind changeable. Tho conditions -were 15 birds oft tho 21 yard mark, five traps. The first prize was a gold medal valued at £5 os, presented by tho club, second xirize, trophy value 3Cs, also presented by the c'ub, and the third- prizo was a trophy valued nt £1 Is, presented by Mr C. R. Golding. There were 16 entries, of ■which 12 subscribed to an optional supplementary swecn. D. Davison and J. Hickenbottom shot 1-1 "birds caeb, di-vnded. first and second moncv, and eliofe off for . "tho medal, J. Hickenbottom winning on the second round, Davison taking the second t.roph*". J. Simpson, C. Hickenbottom and .V. Truscott shot 12 each, and divided third nionev, and shot off for the third trophy, which was won by F. Truscott from J. Simpson on tho third round. _ All throo ehooters missed their birdf in the first round. Other scores were: —L. A. Shand 11 F. Precce, L. Kerr and \V. Reid 10, 11.' Y.' Stead 0, J. Skilling and A. B. iixrr 8." J. Hickenbottom. F. Truscott and L. A. Shand tied with 10 each for a first-bar-rel trophy, presented by the president, Mr J. Shilling. 111 the shoot-off, F. Truscott won from J. Eickcnbottom •on tho third A ten-bird sweep followed, in which thero were eleven competitors. A. B. Kerr (21 yds) and F. Truscott (20yda) grassed, eight birds ca-cli and divided first and second monev. D. Davison (20ydg», J. Simpson (21yds), and F. Preece (21yds) with six each divided third money. After the presentation of tho trophies for these matches, Air J. J. Matthews, on befcalf of tho members, thanked the president, Mr J.
