NORTH CANTERBURY V. ASHBURTON COUNTY. A representative hockey match. between the Xorth Canterbury senior and the Aehburton County ladies' hookey teams was played at Ashburlon Domain grounds on Saturday afternoon. As a. curtain-raiser, the Ash-burton High. School and the Technial Shool A team > played the final game m connexion with the Gala Cup competition. The High School team, with superior combination, had all the "best of the game and interest was evinced in the match between tho Canterbury =r,d Asl^ Count-- teams. Canterbury put their best available players in the fiold and Asbburton also did their utmost to get together a team which would -uphold the lioiiour hockey in tho Ashburton district. Ashburion scored a goal in the first tw» of may. Ten minutes afterwards terburv evened matters up. Then fairl> oven' play resulted to the end ofthofust half, when the scores -were one each. Soma nartic-ularly good play was witnessed m Uio second half; though North Canterbury had decidedlv tho better of it a.nd ton minutes church) and Mr H. A. H™ P tey 6 (Ashbarton).
