I Several weeks ago a meeting of ! creditors was held in the bankraupt j estate of Francis George Malloeh, [ grocer, of Greymouth, and after con- | siderable discussion as to the legality of the seizure of stocks by certain j creditors immediately prior to tho bankruptcy, the meeting was adjourned to | enable the Deputy-Official Assignee to j ascertain whether there -were any j grounds for an action. A further ineeti ing was held to-day. Mr J. M. Bunt presided, and the bankrupt was represented by Mr W. P. McCarthy. After a considerable amount of discussion ( and strong comment by tho representaj tives of Christchurch firms_ on the creditors' action, it was decided to recommend to the Deputy-Official Assignee that legal action be taken to recover ; the value of the goods seized. i Golf. | The West Coast golf championships { will be held at Omoto under the management of the Greymouth Golf Club from August 26th to 28th. Raco Trains. The Minister of Railways has in. formed Mr J. O'Brien, M.P., that it is impossible to provide an expresa train on Monday to suit racegoers. Very few persons took advantage of the facilities provided for them to reach Christchurch to-day, the carriages attached to the goods train being poorly patronised. Seamen's Appreciation. Mr.iH.Kirk, secretary of the Greymouth "Waterside Workers' Union, has received from the Federated Seamen's Union a gold medal which is to be awarded to the best player this season in the Cobden Ladies? Hockey Club. The presentation is made in recognition of the services of the club members, who organised entertainments on behalf of the crew of the Ngahere, which was wrecked on tho north tip. | Brunner Bridge. As the result of personal representations made by Mr I\ F. Boustridge, Mayor of Brunner, to the Minister of Public Works, it has been decided to repair the Brunner traffic bridge, and a survey of the site is to be made by the Council. Whitebait. Mild, sunny weather has induced quite a run of whitebait in the river, and the quantities netted to-day were sufficient to bring the price down to is 6d a pint; ? Timber Industry. Thero is a considerable demand from Canterbury for silver-pine posts, and large numbers are being cut in the Cronadun district. Buller Rugby Union. At a special meeting of the Buller Rugby Union, both-senior fixtures for tho coming week-end were abandoned. Personal. The death occurred at Wellington on Wednesday of Mrs Redding, a former resident of Reefton. Tho pupilt. of the Runanga School, together with their parents and teachers, assembled to bid farewell to Miss E. • Ji. Crowley, who has occupied the posij tion of infant mistress for the past 19, i vears. A' presentation was made of z fountain pen and suit-case. Master John James Sinclair Johnston, of Westport, was successful in passing I the Public Service entrance examination, securing 27th place in the dominion. Mr'G.
