Gaming Bill. Replying to Mr Witty to-day. M* Massey said tho Gaming Bill waa ne* a party measure. Past fc«'l shown that the matter was ecntrowrsial, and he believed it was a* emutrovcrsial as ever. If the Hoes* desired it he would be v<?rj glad to agr»e to Mr Witty's suggestion that the Bill should be referred to a special Mtnaji?tee of the House. To this eemEutt#*> the petitions presented to Parliament could be referred, and evidence co«H be taken if it was deemed advisable.

"The good work in advertising New Zealand ia other lands dwe* by the Tourist Department ia recant years," states tho petitioner, "haa w* been sufficient to make known ta tM people of Canada and Ameriea tile wonderful scenic, sporting, and bealtftgiving resort* of the Dominion. Tfei* insufficiency of publicity has eatety been due to lack of funds. From personal observation, I am qait* eowriueed that there are hundreds of thousand* ef people in these two great democracies, with money to bum, who would gl*4ty visit New Zealand for holiday a*>£ health purposes. In my opinion, Parliament should give a lead to Chamber* of Commerce, Progress Leagnee, trnpping companies, and other org*Bi«»tions for the purpoee of making a Mr concentrated national effort t« *»**»* people hero to visit oar ■wondeTfsl lands in tho southern aeac.
