MORE WATER.
SUPPLY FOR HOROTANE. A deputation of Horotane residents, Heatlioote valley, waited on the Heathoote County Council last night, and pointed out the necessity for increasing water-supply facilities in the settleblent. 4 The chairman (Cr. C. Flavell), in reply to th® deputation,. said that it would cost £2OOO to by pipes from the 'Mount Pleasant to Horotane. Cr. W. W. Sowff said that the question of supplying the whole of the Valley from Mount Pleasant should ho considered. That would bo better than dealing with the question from tHe smaller point of view of Horotane and Avoca. alone. ' , , •, i. .u Cr. Riley said that the Council should appoint a committee to collect information. He would bo very pleased if the Mount Pleasant Reservoir could be used for Horotane. as the, scheme at present was a burden on Mount P™*" sant residents; it did not pay. Th° proposal was worth going into. The chairman said that Horotane residents should meet and decide >f they would be specially rated for a supply from Mount Pleasant. Members of the deputation thanked the Council, and said that they would Communicate witli. the Council after it Iwvd supplied information as to the oogfc and the probable rate for the scheme. The Council appointed the chairman and Ors. Riley and Scarff a committee to go into the proposal.
