TOY DOG SHOW.

- list of awards. The Christchurch Toy Dog and Cat Club's second annual show was opened in tho Choral Hall yesterday. This year' 3 ehow ia an undoubted succes3, the entries totalling nearly 1000, as compared with 600 last year, when the club's inaugural show was held. The keenest competition was in the Pomeranian and Australian silky classes, although the Chihuahuaa and Pekinese were not entiielv overlooked. A pleasing feature was the space devoted to terrier classes. These dogs, though scarcely answering the l °' "Toys" are popular, and tho club is to be congratulated upon providing classes for them. The competition in fox terriers, smooth, and wire haired, was not Etrorg, but s me of the be3t krovrn breeders staged entr.es. Scotch terriers were represented by three or four nice dogs, and Ir.sh terners provided the strongest entry in the terrier classes, with several exhibits. The chal.engo cup for Pomeianiana went to Mrs F. Baldock, and the challenge cup presented by Mr W. Ballantyne for best terrier was carried off by Messrs G. and F. E. Biltcliff. Tho points for the other challenge cups will be announced to-day. A art and cookery section, run in conjunction with the show, w.-.a a successful featu'.e. The cat section will bo staged and judged to-day. The following is the prize list:—
