NEW BRIGHTON NOTES.

Tides. It will be high tide on the beach today at 11.27 a.m., and in the river at 12.57 p.m., and to-morrow at 112>0 a.m. and 1.20 p.m. respectively. t Methodist Church. The services to-morrow will be conducted at 11 by the Edgeware road Bible Class; at 6.30 by the Rev. F. T. Read; and at North Brighton School at 6.30 by Mr Dyer. Croquet Club. The New Brighton Croquet Club held its fortnightly euchre party in the Parish Room on Thursday. The attendance was very satisfactory. $ Tho prizes, which were given by Mrs Sutton and Mr Cooke, were won by Miss Foote and Mr Winter, the consolation prizes going to Mrs Bright and Mr Baker. Presbyterian Church. At the morning service to-morrow the Rev. J. S. Young will preach on "The Love That Individualises." Tho evening service will be conducted by Mr G. M. Pottinger, an elder of St. Andrew's congregation. Ladles' Miniature Rifle Club.

The last of tho second round of the Association matches was fired against the Mechanical Club team on Tuesday on the Association range. The scores were:— Brighton.—Miss Park 33, Mesdames Buschl 32, Stokes 32, Moses 32, Harding 32, Burmeister 29, McClelland 28, Miss McClelland 30: total, 248. Mechanical Club.—Robertson 32, P. Diggs 28, H. Bishop 28, D. Vine 24, 12. Diggs 28, McCausland 28, R. Read 24, C. Jessiman 28: total, 220, The best scores put in at the weekly practice match were:—Miss Park 34-32, Mesdames Buschl 33-31, Burmeister 33, Stokes 32-31, Ball 32-31, Harding 31, Moses 31, McClelland 30, Sprosen 30. Mrs Ball and Miss McClelland receive one point each for the Tisdall brooch, and Miss Park one in the senior Hotty competition.

Punket Society. The members of the local branch of the Plunket Society have been very busy all this week gathering all sorts of odds and ends for their jumble sale, which is being held this afternoon in the Hibernian Hall. Bowling Club. The annual social and dance of the New Brighton Bowling Club is being held in the Joyland Theatre on Thursday next. The committee have arranged for a concert programme from 8 to 10 p.m., during which the prizes won during the last season will be presented. The remainder of the evening will be devoted to dancing, cards, etc. Personal. Mr A. McClure (town clerk), who is a patient in the Christchurch Hospital, waa reported yesterday to be improving in health. Mr F. Kibblewhite is under the doctor's care, and is unable at present to proceed to business. Euchre Party and Dance. The fortnightly euchre tournament and dance was held in the South Brighton Hall on Wednesday, there being a capital attendance. The prizes in the ladies' section were "won by Mrs Nankivell first, Miss Jowctt second, and in the gentlemen'ar section by Mr Mcllroy first and Master F. Light second. Consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs McClintock and Mr Jacobsen. After supper, dancing was indulged in to music supplied by Mrs Robinson ana Mr Chegwin. The following were appointed the committee" for the next social: Mesdames Jowett and Mcllroy, and Messrs Jowett and Mcllroy.
