The South Africans in the first innings against Durham made 173. ' Dobson tcok four wickets for 49, Doggart three for 21. Durham in the seconds innings had made 12 without the lose of a wicket, when rain interrupted the play. The match was drawn. The wicket was wet and batting slow Commaille made 31 and Deans 38. Catterall was dismissed by a brilliant one-hand catch at deep point.
