Pearson, of the Pathological Department ; of the Christchurch, Hospital, will give an illustrated lec.ture on the work performed in a bacteriological department of •a. hospital. The lecture will be open to the public. At Wesley Church, Fitzgerald avenue, tomorrow morning, the Rev. F. D. Patchett will preach on "Simon, the Cross-bearer." At the evening service he -mil give a special addres3 to young women on "England's Greatest ■ Gentlewoman." At- the Church of Christ, Moorhouse avenue to-morrow, Mr W., *6. More will deliver his farewell addresses Iprior to his departure for Dunedin. The North Canterbury Dairy Farmers' Association will hold a smoke ooncert in the Ohoka Hall on Friday, August Ist, at 8 p.m. There will be discussions on creamgrading, etc. .' The annual meeting of the Oxford Cricket Club 'will be held in the farmers' Union rooms on Monday night. The winning numbers of the Bangiora Brass Band's r? files are advertised in this ~ issue. I Permits to cot or remove wood and Under--1 growth from the Rawhiti Domain have been cancelled.: A special train service will be ran for the Christchurch Hunt Club's races at Riccarton on August 2nd. ,A concert in aid; of, the Richmond School bath improvement fund will be given by the Kiwi Players in the Methodist Schoolroom, Stanmore road, to-night. A jumble sale will be held in the Richmond School this afternoon at 2.80. Particulars of an . art union in aid of the Lewisham Hospital are given in this issue. A jumble Bale will be held in St. Matthew's Schoolroom, Colombo street, at 2 p.m. to-day. The crowning of the winning queen in the "Waiau Queen Carnival will take place in the hall on Saturday afternoon, August 2nd. The Cambrian Society will hold a gTand concert in the Jelliooe Hall this evening. The annual meeting .of the North Beach Gala and Foreshore Improvement Society (incorp.), will .be held, in the Surf Club Pavilioih on Wednesday night. The forty-third annual general meeting of shareholders in "Ward and Co., Ltd., will be held at the office of the company on Thursday, August 7th, at 2.30. A concert, in aid of the Richmond Amateur Swimmin? Club,, will be held in the Jelliooe Hall on T^iesday : ;next, at 8 p.m.
