DANCE AT LYNDHURST. A verv successful nnd was riven by the Lvndh"r-"t TTnlj Committee jis a wind-iro of the qrn'a held recentlv in a'd of the hall funds. There w*i« a large attendance from Lvndhnrst. Methven, Rnkaia. and surrounding districts, and about mnetv cnples took part in the dance. Music was by McDonald's orchestra 'win Rnkaia. and Mr Le'n. Allred ('Methven') played an extra. T>"* hall was tastefully decorated in black and tangerine. The duties of secTetarv were in the capab'e hands of Mr . "W Cook. and Mr A. Gadd, assisted by Mr Cook, carried out the duties of M.C. A song, "There's a Silver Lining," was contributed by Miss D. Houston, j Tsefore the dance commenced. Mr "W. G. Breach, chairman of the Hall Committee, thanked those who had worked hard or given donations for the successful gala. He then read the report and balance-sheet of the gala, which showed that donations amounting to £BO 4s, proceeds of sales at stalls £302 16s, had been received. The expenses amounted to £6l 12s Bd, leaving a net credit balance of £321 7s 4d. The amount raised together with an amount of £BO pre--1 vionsly in hand, would be sufficient to clear the hall of debt and still leave sufficient for some necessary enlargements and alterations, and for the installation of electric light.
