THE "EAT MORE BEEF" CAMPAIGN.

The "Eat More Beef" campaign, instituted by the New Zealand Meat' Producers' Board, is ftiaking a steady headway, as is evidenced by the increased consumption of beef. ■ An' analysis .of the killing returns for the last year of the main abattoirs throughout the Dominion shows a considerable'faHing-off in the number of sheep and lambs killed for local consumption, andacorresponding increase in the number, of cattle. The live stock industry- of our Dominion is our greatest asset, arid unless wo can-find a remunerative outlet for beef we cannot increase bur exports of mutton and lamb. As is well Jcnowri, a great deal of our country, particularly in the North Island, requires to be constantly grazed by cattlp to make : it suitable for fattening lamba-and .sheep. We must also remember that for health, and vigour we. must eat wellbalanced meals, including, a variety of kinds and cuts" of meat suitable for the. season, and which price variations, show to be most economical.
