ROUMANIA.
A DEFENSIVE TREATY WITH TURKEY AND POLAND. (by cablx—pssaa association 1 comsioht.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) HEXSINGFORS, June 1. The newspaper "Sevodjna" says that Roumania, Turkey, and Poland have concluded treaties by which Roumania and Poland will jointly provide 1,000,000 soldiers, and Turkey 250,000, in the event of any of the trio being attacked.
THE EXPLOSION. BLOW TO THE ARMY. LONDON, June 1. The "Sunday Express," traversing the official report from Bucharest, affirms that Roumania has suffered a staggering blow to her military power. Austrians were recently? concentrating on the frontier of Bessarabia, and Roumania therefore was increasing her stores and munitions. Her factories were at work at full pressure. ■A delayed cablegram ,to the "Exr press" states that 10,020 were killed and wounded in an area of half a square mile, which is littered with live shells. Losses amount to £1,0C0,000. Small villages nearby were wiped out, and 75 houses collapsed in Bucharest itself. - , *
