HUMPHREY BISHOP COMPANY.

The dressing of the ladies of the ! Humphrey Bishop > oompany, due to open at tho Theatre Royal on Saturday, 15th inst., is said to be remarkably fine, and was designed and completed by a costumier direct from Paris—the result being an unusual blend of striking and beautiful costumes. The costuming, however, is said to be only in keeping with the general standard of the show. The original song scenae are presented for the most part by the ladies, and are reported to provide a pleasing foil to the comedy work of the four comedians. Chief of the Utter fa Mr Edward Elliott, who toured New Zealand some years ago with the Smart Set. Mr Elliott is a ventriloquist, entertainer, and eccentrio comedian. In the latter department one of his specialities is topical verse, for which he has an -unusual gift, and which he presents very cleverly, but he has, a quaint way all'his own and usually -has tie house in fits of laughter before he speaks a word at alll Robert Roberts, another comedian, is claimed to be one of the most versatile performers on the stage to-day, and whether in comedy, sketch work, juggling, dancing, or character work, he ia equally at home. 2i3 "Gaspard, the Miser," in the famous scene from "Les Cloches des Qornville," is said to be a .masterpiece. Mr George Roes is another artist of many parts, and hails from the Oolisseum, London, and the Alhambra, Paris. An -unusual entertainment is promised when the curtain rises on Saturday. The pieces are popular, and the plan opens at The Brietol on Monday. ,
