OPAWA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The first meeting of the new committee oi the Opawu Hciiooi was held on Tuesday evening, taero being present—M«ssrs T. W. Weat, v oJiairman), E. Jbeimett, T. H. Hill, E. ii. -.ates, J. Pycrott, G. Kobinsou, J. E. Baker, vV. O. Brown, and P. A. Cornisli (secretary). The headmaster reported an average attendance of 828 from a total roll number of dGB during the past month, the low average being on account of the bad weather. A letter was received from the Education Board in reference to Empire Day, celebrations, and the matter was left in the hands of the headmaster. It was decided to approach the Board for financial assistance owing to having two schools to maintain. \ The following committees were set up for the ensuing year:—Bath: Messrs Pycroft and Bennett. Works: Messrß Yates, Hill, and Robinson. Delegates to School Committees' Association: Messrs Pycroft, Robinson, and Yates. Official Reporter: Mr W. O. Brown. An executive, consisting oi Messrs "West, Cornißh, and Brown, was Bet up to deal with any urgent matters that may arise. It was decided to inspect the school grounds and buildings to-day.
