TWO GREAT LECTURES.
Mr Julian 'Grande's lectures on Monday and Tuesday next are attracting- the keenest interest, the/ booking being very good. Of the lecture, the "Scotsman" said : "Mr Julian Grande, F.K.G.S. a distinguished member of Ulie Swiss Alpine Club, guvo an illustrated lecture last night to a largo meeting of the I Edinburgh' l'liilosophical Institution. Mr [ Grande has eafciblisihed himself as_ a moat . popular lecturer on Alpine climbing, and | has delighted thousands of admirers both in this country and on the Continent. Besides being an expert climber, he is an authority on matters connected with Palestine- and Arabia. In last night's lecture he described in a- most interesting fashion ascents Jie had mode of tho Wetterhorn, the Eiger, the Jungfrau, the Great Schreofchurn, the Woisshom, tho Matterhom, and Mont Blanc. The slides thrown \ipon the semen were far above the ordinary style of pictures. Needless to say Mr Grande- received tho undivided attention of his audience from beginning to .end." "The AVestminster Gazette," said: "The photographs accompanying the lecture, many of them telepliotographs were of extraordinary beauty; but the most interesting, because the most unusual, were lightning 'flashlight photographs taken during a strom at night on the high Alps. The ecracs and ice pinnacles stood out dazzlingly white and glittering by lightning-light against tho dark rooks in the background.
