ADDINGTON SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
Mt G Wear presided over the monthly meeting "of the Addington School Committee, there also being present MesdameH Hobb and Pearce, Messrs G. Fisk, J. Greig S. J. L. Hewitt, H. Worrall, H. Spillor (secretary). The headmaster reported that the roll number was 767, the highest attendance being 730 Miss P. E Stewart, after several years faithful service, was leaving on promotion to Chertsey, and Mi*. Braisher would be transfered from Ohoka. The Swimming Sports were hold on Thursday, there being a good number of entries. A request was made for a grant for prizes for the Swimming Sports. It was decided that ilias Stewart's resignation be accepted with regret, and that a vote of appreciation of her Bervioea be recorded on the minute 3. The Swimming Club were granted tho use of the shelter shed, and a classroom for afternoon tea. A number of accounts were passed for payment, and a grant was made for swimming prizes, including medals for winners of the boys' and girls' championships. The Board's workmen are now erecting temporary classrooms, which ought to be* ready at an early date, so that marquees will scon be no linger necessary. The heating and lighting of the teachers' rest room was considered, and it was agreed that an estimate of the rost be procured. Every effort will be made to make the room a3 comfortable as possible, the opinion bein? freelv expressed that the teachers deserved the greatest consideration. Parents are invited to .inspect the latest improvements on March 24th at 2 o'clock.. Mr R, B. Clarke and Mi«s D. M. nabertiftld were congratulated on their success in the recent degree examinations.
