New South "Welshmen have every reason to be" proud of their big railway terminal, Sydney Central Station. With its 27 platform faces, and 14 other tracks, it is the largest passenger railway terminal station in the British Empire (writes our Sydney correspondent). Just under 700 passenger trains arrive or depart from it every week-day, and when the city and suburban electrification scheme is completed there will be no fewer than 30 platform faces for the accommodation of the rapidly increasing traffic. A very efficient system of electro-pneumatic power signalling protects the whole of the Sydney "yard," and accidents are few and far between, in. spite of the almost bewildering congestion of traffic.
