LICENSING POLL.
OFFICIAL RETURNS. Last week's "Gazette" contains the certified returns of the licensing poll. These show that 700,<?12 electors were on the effective roll, and that 619,187 valid votes were cast. Of these 282,669 voted for National Continuance, 35 727 for State Control, and 300,791 for National Prohibition. The Prohibition I issue therefore failed by 17,605 votes.
