PICNICS.

—♦ The staff of the Christchurch branch of the Provident Life Insurance Company held their annual picnic at Governor's Bay on Thursday. The party journeyed to Jbyttelton by the 8.55 a.m. train, and then took a launch to the bay. The weather was ideal, ana the picnickers took the opportunity of exploring the beauty spots of the bay, whicn is' an ideal place for a picnic. A cricket match and various other forms of amusement were also held. The evening was taken up with a musical entertainment, at the close of which cheers were given lor Mr and Mrs A. T. Wellwood, who made tbe party welcome. Cheers were also given tor Mr A. Corbett, who gave his services as pianist, _^____—_—_—
