COMMUNISTS AND LABOUR PARTY.
i INCIDENT IN HOUSE OF COMMONS. (by cable—pkess association—copyright.) (austbaliah and n.z. cable association.) (Received February 17th, 8.5 p.m.) LONDON, February 16. Labour was divided against itself in the House of Commons to-night. Mr J. T. W. Newbold (Communist, Glasgow), attacking the Labour Party's attitude in regard to the occupation of the Ruhr, declared tnat when the Labour Party formed a Government, the Communists would join them "if they accept our programme. If they do not we will succeed them. I do not think my support will altogether please the opportunist Neil McLean, who was formerly a Communist." Mr McLean jumped up, with his fist clenched, and cried: "Come outside and I'll slow you." He then attempted to reach Mr Newbold, but was prevented by other Labour members. Bitter recriminations followed, but the incident finally terminated peacefully.
