The Public Health Department announced to-day that the investigations made by bacteriologists nt Christchurch into the cases of food poisoning at New Brighton had been attended by a cortain measure of success. The bacterial poisoning, of which Dr. Tef lord, Medical Officer of Health for Canterbury, said evidence had been found, had proved to be the typhoid germ. Kesearch was continuing. The southern Department ■n-as working hard to solve the mystery surrounding tho poisoning, and success may attend its efforts at any time. . AUCKLAND CASES. ICE CREAM THE CAUSE. (MUSS ASSOCIATION TELEOBAK.) AUCKLAND, February 15. The bacteriological examination of the ice-cream supposed to have caused the illness of several people in Baker street, showod that it contained the organism that is the main cause of food poisoning. ■-'-,
