POST OFFICE REFUSE.

PAYMENT EEPUSED. The Sanitary Committee reported to the City Council last night that as the Post and Telegraph Department had not paid the account for the removal of refuse for the quarter ended • 31st December, 1921, the Committee had given instructions for the service to b e discontinued. The Mayor: Can the Government dock any subsidy that is coming to us? Cr. J. A. Flesher: That is what they will do. (jr. W. H. Winsor: Tue Post Office people should give us some explanation. Or. Flesher: >Why Jaot uiscuss it with the Prime Minister when he is bers. It's an unreasonable position for the Post Office people to take up. The Council uecided to hold the matter over pending an interview with the Prime Minister. The Assistant; Town Clerk said the decision of the committee had already been given effect to.
