In the final of the golf championship Miss Wethered beat Miss Leitch, 9 -up and 7. . The sensational conclusion of the final ol tie ladies open golf championship at Sandwich was due to Miss Cecil Leitch a collapse in iho second round. The match ■ attracted the keenest interest, and the gallery numbered 2000. _ , The championship never produced better irolf or a keener fight than the firat round, after which Miss Wethered was one up, though both had 84's in the second round. The excitement was intense. J.ne movements of the crowd repeatedly troubled Misa Leitch, and tho referee had' to reprove the spectators. . The first hele of the second round was halved in five. Miss Wethered won tho eocond through' Miss Leitch slicing a braseey shot. Miss Wethered won tho third, after both had visited bunkers, by means of a six yard putt.
