The City Council on Thursday evening granted permission for tlie erection of a tent at Brooklyn to provide accommodation for a family of six, who are being ejected from their present place of residence. Authority was granted subject to com- | pliance with such conditions as may bo imposed by the city engineer in the provision of necessary sanitary conveniences. Cr. C. H. Chapman raised the question of general permission being granted in such eases, which, in view of tho housing situation, he considered '"highly desirable. Until prices fell •considerably, he did not see flow tho •housiifg problem was to bo overcome A proposal for the subdivision of a portion of the Dominion Farmers' Institute building to provide certain bedroom accommodation was approved bv tho Council, subject to compliance with the requirements of t'he city engineer. Cr. M. E. Luckie, chairman of the By-la wr Committee, explained, that it was desired to convert a .portion of the building into residential quarters for farmers visiting town.
