STATE SUPPLIES.
STOKES BOARD CONTROL. (SPECIAL TO "THE prbss/') WELLINGTON, May 20. Preparations are being made speedily for the assumption of complete control by the State Stores Board of all supplies purchased for Government Departments. The board has considered methods of administration, and the Public Service Commissioner will be asked to advertise for an officer who will act as secretary and inspector. ■ It is possible that a temporary appointment will be made m the meantime. The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. J G. Coates), wfto is in. charge of the board, said to-day that there would be no delay in the commencement of operations!, but there were certain details to. be arranged with regard to exemptions ana methods of ordering, so that it may be a few weeks before complete control is assumed oy the board.
