An action has commenced in which the Federal Government claims £29,662 from Milne Brothers, engineers}- of this city , The olaim alleges .that tfes amount was paid to defendants for goods which were not supplied to Cockatoo Island Dockyard. William Milne, a member of the firm, is serving a sentence in connexion with frauds'at the dockyard. ALLEGED LIBEL. o —, — (Received August 15th, 9.80 p.m.) MELBOURNE, August 15. An action has commenced in which Willis, secretary of the Australian Coal and Shale Employees' Federation, is .claiming £SOOO damages for alleged libel from the "Argus" neswpaper. . The alleged libel was published in i-onnexlon with the stewards' strike and referred to Willis aa "a wrecker" and as "ah undesirable importation from America.." AJtOHSISBOF MANNEC.
