A cable message from Sydney states that the five-year-old gelding White Phast, by Waukenphast—Farmeress, has been sold to an Indian buyer for 3000 guineas. The stakes to be offeml at the Easter Meeting of the- Wairarapa Racing Club have been increased from £3150 to £4350. The Easter Handicap has been raised from. £4OO to £6OO. There willi be no race on the programme of less value than 200 sovs.

Mr E. S._ Luttrell has disposed of! Triboulet (Kilbroney—Portland Lass) to Mr I. G. Ihincan. Triboulet ran fourth in the Melrose Handicap on the concluding day at Trentham. Hickenbotßam has announced his intention of retiring as a pitWio trainer (says the "Australasian")- Somq time ago it was stated that ho was about to take this step, and that after New Year's I>ay his two sons would carry on the business. The veteran trainer, who is now about 72 years of age. has been appearing before ths public as jockey or trainer for about 55 years. H© was popular with, all sections of the racing community, and his success on the Turf, not only with Oarbine but with other noted performers, won !him wide fame.
