VALEDICTORY GATHERING AT DORIE.

In tho Ardamine Hall at Doris a public farewell was' tendered to Mr and .are Mucfklo and family, who are leaving tho district to reside in Ra&aia, after having' been farming at Dorie for thirty-six. years. Mr W. Carruthers rsad apologies for abaenco l'rom Messrs Boylo and Tabart, of Pyno, Gould, Guiminess, Ltd., the Hon. C. A. C. Hardy, Mr j. Mori and, und Mr G. Taltotwon, '.of Borthwick and Co. Mr 11. J. Harriaon, in making a presentation to Mr and Mrs Muckle of a silver tea and coffoj service, eaid ho had been associated with Mr Muckle for tho past forty years. Tiiey had both commenced fanning at Dorie soino thirty-six years ago, and had been adjoining neighbours till quite rcccntly. He epoke of tho very fine qualities of tiioir guests as citizens and neighbours. Miss Carruthers presented tho Misses Mucklo with wristlot watches, and spoke highly of the work they had done in connexion with social functions, and with Red Cross worfr during the late war. Mr B. Mc>tamara stated that, in ths fp'O years he had known. tho family, lie had found them generous and hospitable. Ho considered Mr Muckle on© of the most successful farmers in Dorie. Mr Lochhead said ho knew Mr and Mra Mucklo in the eighties, and knew them to be of a very fin*> type of Mr T. Blackley also epoke. In responding, Mr Mucklo said he, like othsr pioneers, had had a hard struggle in the early days, but he was pleased to state he had made a success of farming, and he now intended to enjoy some of his hard earnings in comfort. Ho hoped that hia successor on tho farm, Mr "W. Strachan, would have the same racceas as he had. During tho oven in.? musical items were contributed .by Mr L. Oakley. Tho music for the dance was provided by Wells's Orchestra, and Sir W. Kingsbury acted as M:C.
