AUSTRALIA'S CREDIT.
STATEMENTS REFUTED. (By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) LONDON, July 23 In reference to a statement published that; British financiers aro unfavourably impressed by the Australian situation, two important bankers who are in constant touch with London's . chief financiers stato that they have never heard a whisper to this effect. One says that the only thing that tended in any way to shake Australia's credit was some recent legislation. A lending stockbroker, closely connected with Australian affairs, says that though tho Labour situation the world over is causing some uneasiness, the position in Australia is regarded as being more favourable than in Great Britain, evidence of which is to be found in the prico of Government securities. The modern to decline in some longdated Australian stocks is considerably loss than the decline in Consols and British 10-.-al loans, and is entirely explainable bv the changed conditions due to the issue of the Victory Loan on attractive terms, and is in nowise attributable to the reports of unrest in Australia. Even if there had boen no trouble in Australia tho price of stocks must have depreciated owing to the Victory Loan.
