A Russian official message slates that Bolshevist Commissary Grogofieff was murdered in Petrogra'd. BRITISH SUCCESS AT VAGA. (Received MaV 6th, 9 p.m.) LONDON, May 5. General Ironside reports that the Bolshevist bombardment of Vaga lasted for BOveral hours. The dug-outs withstood the shelling, and protected the infantry well. The enemy assembled under cover of the woods, but were speedily dispersed when thoy advanced in the open. One party of Bolshevists attempted to get round the British flrink, but the Russian infantry coun-ter-attacked and defeated tho enemy. General Ironside pays tributes to the Canadian artillery, also to the Russian artillerymen manning the British sixtvpounders, which were the deciding factor in the battle. 8 PETROGRAD THREATENED. (Received May 7th. 1 a.m.) . • PARIS, May 5. Tlie Finnish troops nnd General Jtidenicll's Russian volunteers are within twertty-two miles of PctroEjrad. Tho Russian Bolshevist Government has proclaimed a state of siege in Petroprad, relying for defence mninly on tho Finnish Red Guards. The Bolshevists have appealed to tho.proletariat to assist in repelling General Mannerheim's Flhnish White Guards. The principal motive of Mannerheim's advance is to force tt favourable solution of the Finnish questioh; hoping to compel the Bolshevists to concede the demands before the Bolshevist debacle complicates the problem. .
