NO CAUSE FOR ALARM. Speaking on the influenza questionto a "Press" representative yester ay, H. Chesson, District Health Officer, stated that so far there were no signs, of a recrudescence of the epidemic, and there was no cause for alarm. ere had of late been a number of notifies tions of influenza, but that was du° chiefly to the fact that he had been "shaking up" the doctors for returns. "The result has been," remarked Dt. Chesson, "that I havo got a great deal more matter tlian I wanted, for practically every case of mild, one-day, influenza has been notified." While stating that there was nothing out of the ordinary- in the present position, Dr. Chesson urged tlie necessity for taking every precaution against a recrudescence, and once again he spoke of the utmost necessity for proper ventilation, for avoiding crowded tramcars, et-c. "We have been keeping our eye a very wide open since the epidemic," added I>r. Chesson, "and that is practically all we can do at present—watch for any possible recrudescence, and jump on it immediately it appears, with both feet."

Tho public did not take any very outstanding interest in the inoculation facilities at the hospital yesterday, exactly 60 people submitting to the process.

Very complete arrangements have been made by tho Epidemic Recurrence Committee to deal promptly with any possible renewal of the disease, and the block system, with nil its attendant branches of work, has been made n* nearly perfect as is possible. Should there be any recrudescence, matters are so well in hand that the system will bo in perfect working order within 24 hours.
