Wrightson (Coalition Unionist), 10,956; A. E. Newbould (Liberal), 5288. PROGRESS OF AVIATION. LONDON, March 14. Brigadier-General Seely (Air Minister), speaking in the House of Commons, announced that thero were many aviation novelties. Ho instanced a new seaplane with five engines, which carvies five tons at a speed of 100 miles an hour. Experiments wore also being made with machines with ei<*ht engines, carrying eight tons. Other novel machines will possess unprecedented properties and unparalleled speed New types of commercial flying boats* for the great rivers are also being developed. There are also inventions for piloting machines in fogs and bad weather, which, if successful, will probably solve many difficulties of long-distanc© flights. The whole resources of the Air Force would be available to assist civilian, aviation.
