RACING AND TROTTING NOTES. (Br "Looker-On.") Tho Racing and Trotting Clubs at Gore arc holding :i three auys' Meeting on April 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, when £3795 will be given in stakes. The Gore Cup; on the opening day will carry with it 500 sova, and tho Summer Handicap, run over six furlongs, 200 sovs, whilo on the third day the Racing Club Handicap will bo worth i.OO govs, and the six furlong race 130 sovs. Hacks have been, particularly well catered for, and a steeplechase finds a place on each of these day's programmes. The second day will bo devoted, to trotting, and the Gore Trotting Club Handicap, cla3l smin or better, 13 endowed with 251> eovs, a mil© race carrying 170 sovs, arid a mile and a quarter race the same amount. On each of the other days one trotting race is included, one worth 200 sovs ,and the other 150 sovs. For this programme of racing, nominations close on Tuesday next, 18th, at 5 p.m. The steeplechaser Nita has been purchased ;by a patron of S. Trilford's stable. (fir "Searchlight.") Nominations for the Gore Trotting Club's Annual Meeting close on Tuesday. The New Brighton track was in good order yesterday, but mot much work of importance took place. A. G. Wilson, who works his team early, sent' Rcta Peter a couple of circuits, which she covered really well. ■ ' l - J. Smith drove his maiden pacer, by Galindo —Alice "Wood, over a useful journey. "Vice-Admiral had tho assistance' of Sympathy over the major portion of two miles. Th'i "former's effort was. only moderate. Rita Rose, in saddle, gave a pleasing display. of trotting while getting to tho end of two miles. Beeswing did sprinting exercise, and showed a nice turn of speed. W. Brown gave his two-year-old filly, Logan Pointer—May Linton, long steady woi'k.

W. Warren had a team. of five on tho track —Ivan, and a sister, Is ancy Stair, and a brother, and King Lear—and eent each, along over several circuits at a 60und pace. M. Edwards has decided not to laco any of his team at Forbury Park. Miss ltye. who broke down at Timaru, has been turned out for a lengthy epell. A. Fleming's team to sport eilk at Forbury will consist of Hardy _ Wilkes, Nihilist, Perfect Day, and Dean Dillon. "Wallace Junr. was responsible for a tcmarkably fin© performance at Waiau on Wednesday, when ha paced tho two miles on a rough track in 4m 45 2-ss. Prince Burlington has been penalised 95 yards in the Autumn Handier.} at Forbury Park. The disposal sale of Mr "W. Kerr's trotting stock will take place on Monday at 11.30 a.m. The lot 3 to bo submitted include a fine collection of brood mares, the well known and successful stallion Wildwood Jr., and some very promising young paoers and trotters. Mr W. A. Saunders,-of Invercargill, will act as secretary for the Gore Racing and Gore Trotting Clubs at their coming Meetings. r
