(By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright.) (Australiar and N.Z. Cable Association.) SYDNEY, March 14.
The Rev. Mr Bazeley, general secretary of the Church Missionary Society, lias returned after a six months' visit to tho East. He sounds a note of warning regarding Japanese trade and othor development. Japan is making amazing strides, and occupies a position of dominating influence commercially and politically in the East. The whole country is a hive of industry. Factories are going up everywhere. There is hardly an article of commerce which tho Japanese are not now making. They are seeking new openings for trado tho world over. Tiro commercial penetration of China and India by Japanese manufacturers is something to marvel at. They aro capturing markets wholesale. Australasia is destined to know much more of Japan before many years. Mr Bazeley says he found a great deal of unrest evorywhero in the East against Australia's exclusion policy. He predicts that it will soon bo necessary to ameliorate this policy in certain directions.
