FOURTH DAY. king, of opaki, LEADING FOR KING'S PRIZE. (PRESS ASSOCIATION" TELEGBAII.) TRENTHAM, March 14. Ihe riflemen were kept on the move today, with the result that the three matches completing tho Kina's Prize series were got through, anil an extra match for men Viio had not won more than 30s topped off the day's work. . Last night was crisp with frost, but a warm northerly wind early thi3 morning brought a more genial temperature. The wind all day proved a trial to the marksmen, varying from strong gusts straight down Die range to disconcerting puffs from the left roar. A notable feature of tho meeting is the absence of po33ibles. In the two matchcs at 800 yards to-day, the b:st car-is showed 49, scored by Lieutenant Williamson in the Nelson Match, and Nix in the Otago Match. Interest was centred in these two matches, as this range (SOO yards) will be used to try out the final fifty in the contest for tlie King's Prize. Forty-3ix was the next best recorded to-day, and then came strings of 45 and 44. With the completion of the Canterbury Match at 600 yards, it was possible to discover ihe winner of the Trentham Aggregato in the person of the ca-champion R. J. King, of Opaki, 402, followed by Morgan, of Cluistchurch, 4 points away. Additional scores in tho Trentham Aggregate prize list aro as follows: — P. THE CANTERBURY COMPETITORS. (FROM OTJR SPECIAL REPORTER.) TRENTHAM, March 14. Up till the present no possibles have been made at the meeting, probably because tho men are not at homo with the rifle. Morgan's shooting to-day was closely watched, but he only made 26 out of a possible 50. Tho best Cant?«bury scoro was 44, by Ho!mshaw. Tho scores of the Canterbury men who were not included in the prize list of tho Canterbury match were:—Wood 39, Honey 3D, Duncan 39, Rev. W. J. Hayward 38, McKay 38, Mcintosh 38, Thomas 36, Caughley 36, Matthews 34, Frank 32, H. R. Hay ward 35,' Hunter 31, Hunt 28, McElroy 35, Ironside 35, Morgan 36, Yellowlees 27, Stark 27, Wright 27. Just at thfi completion of the Westland Match, the riflo used by T. Fraser burst, the barrel being split into about four pieces. No reason- has been found for the burst, and Fraser was not hurt.
