The pace was very hot over the first three furlong 3 of the Studholmo Stakes, and at that stage all were being ridden. Sleepy Head and Mortham stayed best, and were leaving the others at the finish. Pyjama was racing well about two and a half furlongs from home, when he was bumped right back. Barley Rigs and Hot Air did not get going quickly, and were at tho tail-end of the bunched field when they settled down to racing. Lady Links and Bonny Mac were hopelessly left in the Trial '"Plntc. Monvmwsk got out best, with Micky Free at his girths. At the entrance to the straight Micky Free looked a winner, but he v.-ould not race on, and was beaten easily at the finish.

G. Young, rider of "Zephland in tho Studholme Stakes, was brought before the Judicial Committee, and severely cautioned for crossing Pyjama and Mortham. The Cup wus a rare betting race, and Royal Star won on : his merits. John Barleycorn mado strenuous efforts to catch him over the last three furlongs, but could not reduce the gap. , Red Tape failed to see the distance out, and Gamecock was beaten three furlong 3 from home. Young Star Pointer refused to leave tho mark in the Morven Trot. Bella Vista, who was well backed, left her feet after going a furlong, and Winnie G. was very slow to get going. Prince Burlington alwuys looked a winner; six furlonge from home the only .thing that looked to have a chance of catching him being Embracer, who was making up his ground very fast, but he left his feet at the half-mile peg, and was not persevered with.

The start for the President's Handicap was a perfect one, but R. C. Reid, rider of Barley Rigß, was caught in the tapes, and pulled off his mount. . He was not hurt.

Winter Cherry and Gay Lad' were accepted for in'their engagements at the "Meeting by their trainer, M. Hobbs. ' Tho horses- were nominated by wire/ and in sending, his confirmation Hobbs filled in the acceptance form instead of the one for nomination. The club was in .no way to blame in the matter. Th© start for the Waitangi Hack Handicap waa not good. Jlonymusk got out on tlio move, and waa never headed. The favourite got 'away badly, and just snatched 6©cond money on the post. Jessie Dillon waa running l a> pood Tace at the end of half a mile, and looked to have a rare chance, but she left her. feet, and dropped right out of it. Wastewood and Hoymetta both went away very badly, and lost many seconds, or they would both have troubled the winner. •

Belair waa always well placed in the Stewards' Welter, but failed to.see the distance out at the pace set by Lady Superior, who was always well placed, but ehe had no chance of beating All Ready, who won very easily.
