BOROUGH COUNCILS.

SPREYDON* Tho Spieydon Borough Council met last evening. Present: Tho Mayor (Mr W. H. Winsor), and Crs. E. O'Rourke, D. Williamson, A. E. Brewer, J. P. Diack, A. Manhire, and. G. H. Rndd. A letter was read from the Devonport Borough Council in reference to a resolution passed by it to the effect that tho Government should l>e urged that all alien prisoners of war, both military and civil, should ho repatriated. After com© discussion, it was decided, on the motion of Cr. Brewer, to support tho resolution. Tho Finance Committee reported that tho credit balanco was £981 lGs Id. Accounts amounting' to 4670 14s 2d wero paesod for payment. The report .was adopted. Tho Works Committee reported that 329J chains of streets had been floated during tho month. The committee also reported that notices had been eerved on a number of ratepayers who had trees overhanging footpaths. Tho report waa adopted.
