Over 75,000 stenographers, clerks, office boys, messengers, watchmen, section men and others in the employ of the Canadian railways, havo been granted an increase in wages amounting to more than 22 million dollars a year on the present pay roll, by the Canadian Railway "War Board, which aso at the same time, in view of the demands of organised Labour, ordered that hereafter the eight-hour day shall prevail in all Canadian railway freight sheds, taking elfect from October 11th. The wage increase is 2-sdols. per month to every employee in the classes mentioned.
