NEW SCHEDULE PREPARED,

ror eome time a special committee of senior officors of tho Defence Department has been preparing a revised schedule of pay and allowances for officers of the Staff and tho Expeditionary Force. The object of the enquiry was to remove somo of the existing anomalies (says tho "Dominion"), and to bring the pay of the Staff oflicers up to that of officers in the Expeditionary Force. One of the amendments to bo made is that married offi cers of the Staff aro to receive 3s a day married allowance. OSicers of tho Staff are to be graded, with increases after two and four years of service. Details of the scheme cannot yet be made public, as some questions raised have not yet been settled.
