Cable advice was rcccivcd yesterday by Mr Jaines Mayno and! Mr Arthur Mayno, of Ckristehurch, that their brother, Corporal W. C. Maync, had died from wounds in Franco. Tho lato Corporal Mayne was th© fourth son of the late Mr William Mayne, and was born at Halswell 47 years ago, and educated at the West Christchuroh school. He resided with his brothers and sisters at Timaru for some years after leaving; school, and then went to Australia, where he had lived ever since, as a mining assayer and engineor. He joined an Australian forco some months ago, and was attached to a Tunnelling Corps. He married ie, Australia, and leaves a widow and four children. News has reached Melbourne that Lieutenant Harold Aschc, A.1.F., was killed in action in France on February 9th, at tho age of 37 years J He was a brother of Oscar Asche, the famous Australian actor-manager.
