The monthly meeting of the Board of tho Now Zealand Trotting Association was to have been held yesterday, but lapsed for want of a quorum. The menj>ers present were:—Messrs P. Selig (president), H. F. Nicoll, R. W. Short, and W. H. Denton; Apologies for absence were received from Messrs C. F. Mark. H. W. Kitchinghain, J. H. Williams, H. W. J. Hopkins, and T. T. Ritchie. The president said he regretted that the meeting could not be held, but fortunately there wan not a great dea[ of urgent business to com© before .the Board. It was practically all of a routine nature with the exception of a letter from the owner of Emilios in regard to the disqualification of his home by the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club. Further information on the subject was required from the club, and tho case wonld not bo prejudiced by being held over til ti® next meeting. NOTES. Owners are reminded that there is a heavy call upon them to-morrow for nominations. The following clubs close.their entry lists in the evening:— Southland, Greymoath, Westland (Jubilee Meeting), Vincent, Northern Wairoa, and Cromwell. The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club has decided that the races at its February Meeting shall be handicapped by seconds. It was anticipated that the Canterbury horses engaged in the Auckland Kacing Club's Summer Meeting would^

be leaving here in a buuch, but difficulty in securing satisfactory transport ha« meant that arrangements have had to be made to send the horses up in smaller teams. If present arrangements are adhered to, the aldhurst contingent, consisting of seven, wijl leave this evening in - charge of lv. O'Donnell. To-morrow 11. J. Mason goes North with Biplane, Bimeter, Greenstreet, and Thafncs, while on Saturday the Cliokf-boro team shipped North. Sir George Clifford will probably send five horses to Auckland, and three will go south lor the Duncdin Meeting. Marc Anthony will probablv leave on Saturday also, although'there still seems to be a little uncertainty about his movements.
