AKitROA CLUB. A meeting of the commit too of tho Alcaroa Bowling Club was bold on Monday nigDt, when there were present—Messrs J. D. Bruce (president), J. S. Dodds. G. W. Thomas. W. H. Henning. C. Hull, and A. H. Western®. (Hon. secretary). An apology -was received for the abßenco of Rev. J. W. Huyward. Correspondence was received from lho Bowling Clubs at Honmer, Ashburton. and Queonstown, in answer to queries with regard to tho control and tho use of groeii« owned by the municipal or other public authorities. The .Green Committee recommended that play should, for the preeent, be confined to Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday in each week, as, owing to the continued _ hot. dry weather, the green required additional ■watering and rolling. The report was adopted. Arrangements were made to institute ihreo competitions—Singles (for president's medal), doubles,- and rinks. No prizes would be allotted for the last two, and tie entrance feee would Ijc paid, into tho funds of tho club, tho president pointing out that for financial reasons it was neceeeary to exercise the fitrictoat economy. Tho Green Committee wa« empowered to use its discretion in dealing with the half of tho green that had not been already used this season. It was decided to suspend the competition* during Christmas week for the Bake of visiting bowlere. CENTRE RINK BADGES. A match for tho "Watson Shield and tlio Centre Rink Challenge Badge* took place last evening on tho Jumgiora green between Edgeworc (challengers) and Rangiora (holdera). Tio result was a win for tho holders by three points. Scores: — Raoogiora—J. McKenr.io, D. McE*y, W. ElEbrd, jun., and T. R. Creeswell (s) 20 v. EdgowoTC—B. Brent, C. H. Rascand, J. W. Bean land, and G. Brass (s) 17. The next challengers aro Sumner.
