A revised estimate of the sugar crop is 220,000 tons, between 40,000 and 50j000 tons under the estimated consumption. FACTORY ENGINE-DRIVERS STRIKE THREATENED. MELBOURNE, December 12. The Union of Factory Engine-drivers throughout Australia has given an ultimatum to employers that unless its demand for increased ■wages and ehortcr hours is conceded by Monday, a strike will be ordered. Gaorso Wilson, one of the Comniai*wealth note forgers, who escaped from Tamworth gaol after severely injuring a warder, oil October 22nd, and who ia a member of the I.tV.TV. at present serving a sentence of six years, has been remanded on a charge of murdering George Pappageorgi. On April sth a message from Sydney stffted that the body of George Pappa* georgi. a Greek, was found at th© rear of his cafe in George street, with his head smashed in, and a cleaver alongside.
