A Press Association message states that Spdd-cl-Bahr was withdrawn from all engagements at the Auckland Summer Meeting at 11.15 a.m. yesterday. The stable is dividing Up .'it* string for the holiday racing. Five will probably leave for Ellerslie to-mor-row, while Adjutant, Glen Helen, and Battle live -will in all probability go to Winjcatui. L. H. Hewitt will rid© for Sir Geo. Clifford in tho South, while F. 15. Jones goes to Auckland to carry the chequcred livery. The death occurred a few weeks ago' at tho Haras duo Meenil Stud, France, of that celebrated racehorse, Bachelor's Button, who was foaled in 1899. He was a fino "performer on tho English Turf, one of his notable achievements being his defeat of Pretty Polly in the Ascot Gold Cup. Bachelor's Button went to France in '1911, and subsequently joined the Haras due Mesnil Stud, but, because of the war, none of his descendants hare raced in France.

Mr A. B. Williams, owner of Chortle, Multiply, Multiplication, and others, 'who was drawn in the .first ballot under tho Military Service Act, has been exempted from service, as he is over the ago limit. Reports from Gisborne state that Grand Idea is standing up to his preparation very well, and it is quite understood he will journey to Auckland to represent Mr D. J. Barry at the Christmas Meeting. Trainer A. Elliott is of the opinion that his charge will make a better showing than he did at tho Grand National Meeting at Christchurch, as he is more seasoned, and his track form is mncli more pleasing.

F. Foley, Tvho rode Sasanof in the Ifelbourne Cup, has had a enhstantial offer to go to New Zealand to follow the practice of his profession (says an Australian exchange). It was sonpht to engaere his services for Mr W. G. iStead's stable, but the offer was declined.
