THE ANTI-SHOUTING REGULATIONS.
CHARGES IN AUCKLAND. (FBXSS ASSOCIATION' TKLIGRAII.) AUCKLAND, October 25. The first cases under the anti-treat-ing provisions of the War Regulations Act were heard in the Police Court today, by Mr F. V. Frazer, S.M., the hearing lasting until late in the evening.
In respect to the Waitemata Hotel, Nellie Goiss "was fined £5 for receiving payment in respect of a "treat," and Michael Ranlich. and George McNeil were each, fined £5 for "shouting." Nicholas Tolich, George Sulich, and Norman Eade, were fined a similar amount for "consuming." A charge against the licensee, John Endean, -was dismissed. With regard to the Commercial Hotel, Herbert Morris (barman) was fined £10 for '-selling," and George Edwards was fined £10 for "shouting." A charge against the licensee, Walter King, was adjourned till Friday. With respect to the Waverley Hotel, Thomas James Evans was fined £5 for "shouting," and charges against the barmaid (Una Aitken) and tho licensee (A. A. Paape) were dismissed. The charges pending in connexion with the Imperial Hotel were adjourn-1 ed till nest Wednesday*
