Louisa Bertram, another second offender, was convicted and discharged. BY-LAW CASES. Henry Allpress, charged with rising a bicycle on the footpath in Antigua street, was fined 10s and costs. R. Mathias was fined 10s and costs
for riding a bicycle without a' light. Roy Reginald Roberts was fined 10s and costs for riding without a light in Bealey avenue. Albert H. G. Smith was similarly charged, and was fined 10s and costs. Percy Stanley Nicholls, charged with leaving a motor-car without lights at Linwood, wag fined 10s arid cost. . John Arnold, charged with carrying a passenger on a motor-cycle, was fined 5s and costs.
Marcus Leslie Mullins, charged with driving a motor-car over an intersection at excessive 6peed, was fined 10s and costs. • "
George -Dempster Gowie, charged with permitting nine cows to wonder,. u:as fined 5s and costs.

Eliza Timperley, for allowing cattle to wander, was fined Is without costs. H. Walker., charged with allowing two cows to wander on Page's road, Bromley, was fined 5s and costs. Insufficiently stamped cheques.
Robert Kerr Griffin (Mr Cuninghaui) was lined £1 on one charge of stamping cheques, and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon in regard" to two other charges.
THEFT. Eva Koskella wan charged with stealing a lady's handbag with sundry articles and money, to the value of £ti 12s Cd. She was' convicted, ordered to make good the loss, and come up for sentence when called upon. ALLEGED THEFT OF FOWLS. Arthur "Rochford (Mr Donnelly) was charged with the theft of'fowls. The case was romanded till Friday. WILFUL DAMAGE George Dempster Gowie pleaded guilty to breaking eight panes of glass at New Brighton. lie was convicted and ordered to pay costß, having mode good the damage. FAILING TO GRUB GORSE. H. F. Bickerton was charged with failing to grub gorse. The ranger said the work of cutting the goree had been commenced. The case was adjourned till November Bth. DISMISSED. Mr Cuningfcam, on .behalf of Emily O'Neill, asked for a variation of a maintenance order for_ 2s' a week made against Benjamin O'Neill at Ashburton. The application was dismissed.
THEFT OF POSTAL PACKET. Alex. Charles Mitchell was charged with stealing a postal packet addressed to Strange and Co. Mr Cassidy appeared for accused, who pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence, bail being allowed.
